I incorporate a number of therapy models into my work — mainly cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT) & sensorimotor psychotherapy (SP). In our time together we might work to uncover, understand, and change patterns of thinking, feeling, relating, sensing, and behaving that have become barriers or sources of difficulty for you. My style is to work relationally and collaboratively with you in order to articulate your struggles, set therapeutic goals, and work together to create desired changes.
All of my work is influenced by my own commitment to and participation in social justice, anarchist, and queer/LGBT communities. I am comfortable with their wide variety of ways of being, values, and relationship styles, including kink and poly.
I have supported people in their sexual and gender identity explorations and recognize the many ways that homophobia and transphobia negatively affect psychological wellbeing and the ways that these social locations intersect with other systems of oppression.
I am experienced with and happy to write the letters of support required for transitioning and can usually find the time for the necessary number of sessions even when my practice is full.
